Discover 'Bachelorx': A Journey of Identity and Love

A Journey Beyond all Binaries

A 60-something nonbinary plural person abruptly leaves a 35 year marriage to go on the apps and date, bringing along all their very vocal and vulnerable personalities.

A Comic Journey into the Underworld of App Dating

When nonbinary Orpheus leaves their much-loved asexual partner Tobi after 35 years, they have never dated sober, never had a casual girlfriend and never had sober sex. At the age of sixty-two, they’re good at marriage and suckass at dating of any kind. They’ve been living out and proud not only as nonbinary, but also as plural (multiple personalities), filming a queer web series in which all identities were welcome. They’re completely unprepared for middle aged lesbians and their complicated lives. Romance, flirting, love-bombing, control, seduction, desire roll into Orpheus’ life and wake up every possible opinion among their many vocal and vulnerable personalities.

What Readers Are Saying

Hands down one of the most original stories I’ve read in my life. …First of all, it’s hilarious. I laughed out loud not once. I could see the characters vividly and clearly, and most of them were a walking gallery of subtle red flags.

Skye is so wildly, boldly generous with their experience — the sixty-something nonbinary sober artist hitting the dating apps for the first time, the inner committee arguing about every decision, the love story that becomes an underworld and has to be survived — and in that generosity, something strange and necessary happens. You start to recognise yourself.

I devoured this book. Could not put it down, rushing through what I needed to get done to get right back to it. …It’s an intense, emotional, and sometimes hilarious journey that’s honest, heart-breaking, refreshing, and inspiring. I saw so many parts of myself and others in my life reflected back at me. I laughed. I cried. And sometimes, I literally cheered them on out loud.

I very rarely give a book 5 stars, but this is something special…This story of discovery and healing is so beautifully written and done so well that each individual voice was prominent and evident on the page and I fell in love with each and every one.
